New Web Ordering System
Most website ordering systems are ‘offline’ to the underlying database and are updated periodically. Uniquely, the new RETAIL-PLUS web ordering system is continually online to the RETAIL-PLUS database so that if you add or edit an item, or change a price, or the on-hand quantity changes, the change is updated immediately to the website. The items are listed with a small ‘thumbnail’ picture of the product, on-hand stock, long description and the correct pricing level for the user. You can double click on the ‘thumbnail’ picture to display a full size photo of the item and unlimited text describing the item. Importantly, the technology that this system uses is simple and cost effective, so a typical independent retailer can realistically look at using this system to build an effective web ordering portal.
Initially this system is intended to be used by multi-branch retailers who wish to have their branches placing orders to head office via the intranet, but we see potential for RETAIL-PLUS sites to offer this feature to their trade clients and ultimately to the public, for online web ordering direct from the Internet. If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please contact us!

Great New Marketing Function
Previous customer marketing letter functions have been targeted at customers with purchases above a specific value or from a particular supplier or stock group range. The new customer letters program (now available for all users) targets customers even down to a specific product or product range, allowing you to write ‘companion’ or ‘upgrade’ product marketing letters.
This feature can also be used for a product-specific notice or recall situation. Marketing letters can be printed direct from RETAIL-PLUS or merged with Microsoft Word. The customer marketing letter program can be used to automatically laser print customer followup letters as part of the automatic day end function. It can also be used to create Birthday letters for customers. This feature can even be configured to print different types of letters for customers who have purchased different types of products! If you would like help with creating a set of marketing letters please contact our support team.

RECENT SALES/PROSPECTS
Recent RETAIL-PLUS Linux system sales include a lighting shop, two hi-fi stores and a four branch appliance store. We are receiving a great deal of interest from sites running windows based computer systems that have proved to be un-reliable and expensive to support. Many of these windows systems do not have the maturity to provide the high level of control over stock control and margins required by todays retailers. In comparison RETAIL-PLUS running on a Linux server is not dependent on the reliability of workstation which can be simple 486 pcs as all programs are run on the server in a secure main frame like environment. |
